RAILROAD MEN WILL COME
Southern Pacific Passenger and
Freight Agents to Inspect Fair.
Charles S. Fee, passenger traffic
manager of the Southern Pacific at
San Francisco, has written to W. E.
Coman, general freight and passenger
agent of the same line in Portland,
that he is planning to bring all of his
California district passenger and
freight agents to Portland a month
before the opening of the Exposition,
so that they will be able to "talk
and preach to better advantage
the Lewis and Clark Fair."
The Southern Pacific lines are tak
ing a very active part in the advertise
ment of the Fair and are doing all
that may be to bring it before the
people by the distribution of literature.
The determination of Mr. Fee will
bring a large number of the men to
Portland in May who are constantly
in touch with the people not only of
California, but those who travel in
the state. A special train will be pro
vided by the Traffic Manager for his
men and the party will be taken
through different parts of the state in
order that they may be shown all the
opportunities here. Some time will be
spent in Portland visiting the grounds
of the Exposition and the buildings.
As all of the buildings will have been
com pleted by the time the party reaches
here, and some of the exhibits will
have been put in place, the visitors
will have a good opportunity to judge
of the scope of the Fair. Oregonian.
Leave For Alabama.
Rev. J. M. Green, the retiring pastor
of the Baptist church of Dallas, left
with his family for Troy, Alabama,
Tuesday morning. An informal fare
well reception was tendered him by
members of his congregation and
friends of the family the night before
his departure, and many people called
during the evening to say good-bye
and to express the hope that he might
soon return to Dallas. Pvev. Green
and his estimable wife are held in the
highest esteem by the people of their
church, and his resignation as pastor
in Dallas, will be accepted only in the
event that he finds it impossible to re
turn to his work here.
Cured Lumbago.
A. B. Canman, Chicago, writes
March 4, 1903. "Having been troubled
with Lumbago, at different times and
tried one physician after another, then
different ointments and liniments, I
gave it up altogether. So I tried once
more, and got a bottle of Ballard's
Snow Liniment, which gave me almost
instant relief. I can cheerfully rec
ommend it, and will add my name to
your list of sufferers." Sold by Wil
