John White, of Oak Grove, was a business visitor in Falls City a short time ago. He was surprised to see how the town has grown in the last two years. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Williams will be pleased to hear that they have a new-born girl. Mr. Wil liams is a former pastor of the Falls City M. E. Church. Mrs. H. C. Seymour visited her sis ter, Mrs. I. P. Simpson, at Dayton last Saturday. Prof. Seymour attended the teachers' meeting at Bickreall, and Yeports a pleasant and profitable time. Fee, passenger traffic manager of the Southern Pacific at San Francisco, has written to W. E. Coman, general freight and passenger agent of the same line in Portland, that he is planning to bring all of his California district passenger and freight agents to Portland a month before the opening of the Exposition, so that they will be able to "talk and preach to better advantage the Lewis and Clark Fair." The Southern Pacific lines are tak ing a very active part in the advertise ment of the Fair and are doing all that may be to bring it before the people by the distribution of literature. The determination of Mr. Fee will bring a large number of the men to Portland in May who are constantly in touch with the people not only of California, but those who travel in the state. A special train will be pro vided by the Traffic Manager for his men and the party will be taken through different parts of the state in order that they may be shown all the opportunities here. Some time will be spent in Portland visiting the grounds of the Exposition and the buildings. As all of the buildings will have been com pleted by the time the party reaches here, and some of the exhibits will have been put in place, the visitors will have a good opportunity to judge of the scope of the Fair. Oregonian. Leave For Alabama. Rev. J. M. Green, the retiring pastor of the Baptist church of Dallas, left with his family for Troy, Alabama, Tuesday morning. An informal fare well reception was tendered him by members of his congregation and friends of the family the night before his departure, and many people called during the evening to say good-bye and to express the hope that he might soon return to Dallas. Green and his estimable wife are held in the highest esteem by the people of their church, and his resignation as pastor in Dallas, will be accepted only in the event that he finds it impossible to re turn to his work here.
