The Dallas Public Library, 950 Main St., Dallas, is host- ing events at various loca- tions. Okaidja Afroso will fea- ture African tales and cul- ture from his native Ghana accompanied by drumming and traditional music Thursday at 6 p.m. at the li- brary. Ly n n e Du d d y a n d Lawrence Howard from the Portland Story Theatre, will lead a free storyteller work- shop (limited to 24 adult participants) Saturday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dallas Civic Center, 945 SE Jeffer- son St., Dallas. The Portland Story The- atre will perform Urban Sto- ries Saturday at 7 p.m. at Pressed Coffee and Wine Bar, 788 Main St., Dallas (for adult audiences). Adopt-A-Road cleanup coming Faith Lutheran celebrates Reform The Polk County Public Works Department an- nounced the next Adopt-A- Road cleanup day will hap- pen on Oct. 7. As many as 60 different groups that have adopted roads throughout the county will participate. Groups who are active members of the program are asked to pick up supplies the week before the event. The Polk County Museum will welcome Stephanie Wood Saturday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wood will present on how traditional Native American foods and medi- cine plants of Polk County were harvested and pre- pared for “Kalapuyan Pantries.” Wood, a Grand Ronde Tribal member, is a seventh- generation basket weaver, ethnobotanist and cultural keeper with a masters de- gree in cultural anthropolo- gy from the University of Oregon. There is no cost to attend. Ladybugs to perform Friday The Ladybugs will per- form at Rice Auditorium, 345 Monmouth Ave. N., Monmouth, Friday at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Smith Fine Arts Series. The Ladybugs will feature popular music from the 1920s, ’30s, and ’40s, includ- ing blues, swing and Latin popular music. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $11 for students.
