He was born in Por tland to Harry T. and Mar- garet Feld- man. He was r a i s e d with his f o u r brothers on their family dairy farm on Fanno Creek in Garden Home. He attended school in Garden Home and Mount Angel before going to work in logging camps near Valsetz and Mount St. He- lens. Bob joined the Air Force and served in Germany dur- ing the Korean War as a mil- itary police officer. After his service, he re- turned to Portland and went to trade school to become a Salem 412 Lancaster Drive NE Salem, OR 97301 journeyman machinist. This is when he met Kathleen Ri- ordan “Kay.” They were married after a brief courtship on Nov. 17, 1956, and moved from their small apartment to a home they purchased in Tualatin. For the last 50 years, they have lived on the farm in the Eola Hills in West Salem. They raised sheep, grain crops, and Christmas trees and managed a stand of timber on the 345-acre property. In addition to farming, Bob loved tending to his timber. He was a volunteer for the Oregon State Univer- sity Extension Service as a master woodland manager. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed camping, gardening, restor- ing his old tractors and spending his winters in sunny Arizona. He was preceded in death by his four brothers and son, Chris, who passed away in 2009. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Kay; children, Joe Feldman (Donna), Mol- lie Maxson (Lewis), Karen Aumend (Steve), Kate Crowe (Kelly), Diana Christensen (Kur t), Jennifer Woock ( T i m ) , To n y F e l d m a n (Dawn); and daughter-in- law, June Worley; 16 grand- children; and seven great- grandchildren. (503) 581-6265 Richard ‘Dick’ Carl McDonald Sept. 15, 1943 – Feb. 17, 2016 Richard “Dick” Carl Mc- Donald, 72, of Falls City died Feb. 17 in Falls City from a long-term illness. He was born in Dallas to Eugene L. McDonald and Elsie L. Muller McDonald. He grew up on the family farm in Dallas and graduat- ed from Dallas High School in 1961. Dick worked on the farm, in the woods and was a heavy equipment operator. He married Raeann Peter- son on July 31, 1982. T h e y worked to- gether to b u i l d Richard McDonald Tr ucking. He hauled logs up and down Highway 101 for 20 years. Dick was an athlete and loved sports. He played and coached softball into his 50s. He loved animals, his family, friends, his grandchildren, and nature. He was known as the “lawn mower man” at Willamette Lutheran Homes, where he volun- teered. He loved polishing rocks, driving his winning log truck in parades, and his Harley. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harry, and son, Richard Jr. Survivors include his wife, Raeann; sons, Shane, of Seattle, Sam, of Falls City, and Dustin (Nakomi), of West Salem; daughter, Lisa, of Seattle; brothers, Tom (Sue), Bill (Judy), and Harp- er, all of Dallas, and Joe of Harrisburg; sister, Mary (Tim) Weiss, of Dallas; and 11 grandchildren. At Dick’s request there will be no service. He asked that people celebrate his life as he did. Contributions are sug- gested to the Willamette Hu- mane Society. Howard ‘Bob’ Robertson McBride July 24, 1947 – Feb. 18, 2016 Bob McBride, 68, “the Running Man of Independ- ence,” died Feb. 18 in Salem after a long battle with GIST cancer. He was born to Robertson and Margaret McBride in Spokane, Wash. He received his Bachelor of Arts in business from Eastern Washington Univer- s i t y. B o b worked for Fa i r v i e w Tr a i n i n g Center as a recreation- al special- ist for 20 years sup- porting those with develop- mental disabilities. First getting into running in the late 1970s while living in Pendleton, Bob ran races all through Oregon and Wash- ington. Running was one of his favorite activities in life. It was where he met many friends and where he saw much of the world. His final race was this past October running the Portland Half Marathon. Bob also was a very tal- ented guitar player, and most nights he would be found in the living room playing his most cherished selections of folk songs. Survivors include his lov- ing wife of 43 years, Margo McBride, of Independence; son, Peter (Amanda) McBride, of Corvallis; and sister, Helen Taylor, of Ch- eney, Wash. Memorial service was Sat- urday at St. Hilda’s Episcopal Church in Monmouth. One of Bob’s favorite events was the Monmouth/Independence Mini Marathon held every Fourth of July. Walker Jenkins July 14, 1939 – Jan. 27, 2016 Graveside service for Denise L. Walker Jenkins, 76, of Mesa, Ariz., is Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Restlawn Memory Gardens, near Salem. Reception will follow at the Oak Knoll Golf Course Clubhouse located nearby. She was born to Beverly Duane Walker and Esther Orea (Meinke) Walker.
