PERRYDALE — Facing

tion, Perrydale’s boys
basketball team rose to
the occasion at the Casco
League Tournament.
Trailing Willamette Val-
ley Christian by eight, the
Pirates outscored WVC
22-8 in the fourth quarter
to earn a 39-33 win on
Saturday — and a trip to
the OSAA Class 1A state
playoffs.

defense classes
POLK COUNTY — Kings
Valley Charter School will
ofer a Kumgang Taekwon-
do and Self-Defense class
beginning Monday.
Kim Savage, a fourth-de-
gree black belt, will teach
the class. Savage has been
teaching since 1994.
Cost is $49 per month for
two half-hour classes per
week. A uniform will be in-
cluded. Deadline to register
is Friday so uniforms can be
ordered. Payment is due
with registration.
Classes are broken down
by age group. K-2 (3:15 to
3:45 p.m.), third- through
ifth-graders (4 to 4:30 p.m.)
and adults (6 to 6:30 p.m.)
will meet Mondays and
Wednesdays. Middle school
students (3:15 to 3:45 p.m.)
and high school students (4
to 4:30 p.m.) will meet Tues-
