We have momentum.” See PANTHERS, Page 12A PERRYDALE VOLLEYBALL Pirates finish fourth at 1A state tournament By Lukas Eggen The Itemizer-Observer REDMOND — Headed into its matches against Powder Valley and Crane in the consolation bracket on Saturday, Perrydale’s volley- ball team felt at ease. “We went out and had the mentality that this is the last time we’d play together,” senior Kolbie Calonder said. “We gave it our all.” The Pirates defeated Pow- der Valley and Crane in straight sets to take home fourth place at the 1A state volleyball championships. “The girls played the best they had the en- tire year,” Pe r r y d a l e c o a c h D e n i s e Dickey said. Calonder “We got the ball to our setter and Kolbie made great decisions. We played almost errorless those last two matches.” The Pirates saw their chance at a state title end with a loss to Country Chris- tian on Friday.
