VBS starts at
Trinity Lutheran
Trinity Lutheran Church
will sponsor Vacation Bible
School Camp Discovery
from 9 a.m. to noon July 20
through 24 at the church.
The camp is for youths
aged 4 through those enter-
ing fifth and sixth grade. Ad-
mission is free.
At Camp Discovery VBS,
kids will explore the Bible,
make new friends, sing
songs, and learn how Jesus
works through them in their
everyday lives. Kids will sing
around the campfire, act out
Bible stories, make crafts
and have snacks.

Master Gardeners
to meet today
Polk County Master Gar-
deners will present a schol-
arship to a Dallas High grad-
uate Lydia Graber during
their meeting Wednesday
(today) at 7 p.m.
Graber, a 2012 DHS grad-
uate, is studying horticul-
ture at Oregon State Univer-
sity and will receive the 2015
Polk County Master Garden-
er scholarship. The scholar-
ship is presented yearly to a
student and is funded
through proceeds raised by
Master Gardeners during
their annual plant sale.
Dean Anderson, coordi-
nator of the Dallas Youth
Garden, will also speak dur-
ing the meeting.
The meeting is free and
open to the public at Trinity
Lutheran Church, located at
320 SE Fir Villa Road in Dal-

McOmie will give a pres-

cently published book,
“Grant’s Getaways,” will be

Library.

The Jericho Road Gospel
Bluegrass Band will play a
concert at a pie social on
Friday at the new am-
phitheater at Faith Evangeli-
cal Free Church, 2290 E. El-
lendale Ave., Dallas. The
concert is from 6:30 to 8
p.m.
Since forming in 2003,
Jericho Road has performed
in numerous churches, fes-
tivals, prisons, and special
events in Oregon and Wash-
ington. The band’s goal is to
share the good news of the
gospel through music.
