Third grade — Twitter founded, March 2006. Fourth grade — First iPhone released June 2007. Fifth grade — February 2008 Fidel Castro resigns as president of Cuba. Sixth grade — January 2009 Pres. Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president, the first African-American to be elected president. Seventh grade — Haiti suffers a massive 7.0 earthquake. Eighth grade — Osama bin Laden was killed by Navy Seals in May 2011. Falls City’s FACES holds theater camp FALLS CITY — Registration is open for FACES summer program “FACES presents Missoula Children’s Theatre,” slated for the week of June 22-26. The camp will daily from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Falls City High School, 111 N. Main St. and will offer lunch each day. Incoming first-graders through 12th-graders living in the Falls City School District are welcome to attend the program which will conclude with a performance of “King Arthur’s Quest.” Registration forms are avail- able this week. Independence Heritage museum seeks interns INDEPENDENCE — The Independ- ence Heritage Museum is seeking col- lege or high school students for in- ternships. Projects will vary. Past projects have included self- guided tour booklets, military murals, phase one of making the museum ac- cessible to those with disabilities, making display panels on Native American history and hands-on expe- rience for museum studies or anthro- pology students. Oakdale signups for kindergarten is Monday DALLAS — Parents may register their kindergarteners for school at Oakdale Heights Elementary School from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday and from 10 a.m. to noon on Tuesday. Each district has held kindergarten registration fairs to assist in classroom preparation. Parents and future kindergarteners can meet teachers, visit the schools, receive gifts and get a sense for what a full day of kindergarten will look like. Lyle Elementary will hold registra- tion from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. on June 25. Central, Falls City and Perrydale school districts have already hosted registrations. Parents and guardians may visit their local elementary school to register anytime during school hours. Morrison graduation slated for Thursday DALLAS — Morrison Campus Alter- native School seniors will graduate at 7 p.m. at Dallas High School. WOU sends off Class of 2015 graduates MONMOUTH — Western Oregon University will host its graduation for both graduate students and under- grads at 11 a.m. on Saturday at McArthur Field. The gates open at 9 a.m. for seat- ing.
