BIG TOP COMES TO TOWN Circus set to wow crowds in Falls City on May 27 By Jolene Guzman The Itemizer-Observer FALLS CITY — Ready to see something spectacular? Falls City has a circus com- ing to town, complete with a traditional big top. The show will be May 27, so get ready for thrilling tra- peze and tight rope per- formances, a “wild and crazy” unicycle troupe and the performing “Jungle Cats.” A fundraiser for the Falls City Arts Council and Falls City Parent Group, Culpep- per & Merriweather Circus will feature two performanc- es at 5 and 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the former mill lot across from the post office, 123 Parry Road, Falls City. This is the second time Culpepper & Merriweather has visited Falls City, making its first stop in May 2013. Prices for advance tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 2 to 12, chil- dren younger than 2 are free. Advance tickets are avail- able at Falls City City Hall 299 Mill St.; the Boondocks, 318 N. Main St., Falls City; Dallas City Cleaners, 144 SW Washington St., Dallas; and Petals & Vines, 410 E. Main St., Monmouth. On show day, tickets will be $13 for adults and $7 for children. The box office and mid- way, featuring pony rides, an inflatable slide and refresh- ments, opens at 4 p.m. cir- cus day. Curious how an empty lot can be transformed into a circus? Stop by the mill lot at 9:30 a.m. on performance day to see the raising of the big top, take a free tour of the circus grounds and learn about Culpepper & Merriweather’s history, performers and the animals featured in the show.
