Ash Creek Arts Center is
hosting a new exhibit, “Em-
bedded in Place, the Making
of the ‘My Day’ Books,”
which opened this week.
An opening reception for
the exhibit is scheduled
Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. at
the Ash Creek Arts Center
Gallery at MaMere’s Bed &
Breakfast, 212 Knox St. N., in
Monmouth.
The exhibit is open
through April 4 and can be
viewed by appointment at
MaMere’s.
The exhibit celebrates the
first 10 years of the “My Day”
series of handmade art and
poetry books by artist Nate
Orton and poets Chris Ashby
and James Yeary. Thirty-
three of the books have been
produced to date.

Spring gun show
set this weekend
The Polk County Fair-
grounds and Event Center is
the site for the 2015 Rickreall
Spring Gun Show, scheduled
Saturday and Sunday.
This is an opportunity to
buy, sell and trade. Guns,
knives, ammunition and col-
lector items will be on dis-
play and available for sale.
Show hours are Saturday
from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and
Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission is $6, with chil-
dren under 12 admitted free.
Food is available for pur-
chase and parking is free.

class scheduled
Polk County-Oregon State
University Extension Service
is offering a workshop on
“Getting to Know the 4-H
Photography Class” for
youths in grades 4-12.
On Saturday from 9:30 to
11:30 a.m., attendees will
learn about the new and old
photography classes from
the 4-H photography super-
intendent. Participants
should bring a “stick/jump
drive” with a least five of
their photos.
