Thus far there appears to be but very little interest taken in the matter. There will be a mayor, recorder, treasurer and four council- wen to elect. We understand that none of the outgoing officers will be a candidate for re election. N ew C hop H ouse . — On Saturday Mr P Burghduff will open up the Union Chop House near the depot. The building formerly occupied by tbe Alhambra Chop House has been refitted up in nice shape for the new restaurant. Mr Burghduff is an ex perienced restaurant man and will no doubt secure a liberal patronage. SmtPRisE. — Last Thursday evening n number of the young people of the t >wn called at the home of the Misses Newland’ s and tendered them a very pleasant surprise. Various parlor games were indulged in until a late hour when a splendid lunch was served. All report having spent a very pleasant evening. A ccident at S chool . — Frankie Howard met with quite a serious accident while at play in the base ment at school one day the past week. She with another little girl were swinging in an old fashioned rope swing and fell out while the swing was in motion. Her leg was badly druisod between the knee and ankle and it is probable that the bone was slightly fractured. B and C oncert . — On or about March 23 the C M A hand will give a grand musical. The boys are working hard to make this concert one of the best musical treats ever heard in Cottage Grove. The services of the very best musical talent in the town will be secured to assist in the program also one r , two numbers will ho supplied by .Eugene talent..
