WILLIAMS IS DEAD.

the unfortunate man who was pierc
ed with a flying piece of wood at
the Leona mills last Tuesday, died
Sunday evening at six o’clock, after
a most remarkable struggle for
life. Doth lungs were pierced by a
piece of wood over an inch in di
ameter, and being wedged between
the ribs required the aid of two uieu
to withdraw it, yet his life was pro
longed for over five days afterward.
Williams was about 35 years of age,
lie leaves a wife but no other rela
tives iu this state. His mother lives
in Michigan, Ha was a social mem
ber of the Woodman of the- World
Camp hero, and will be buried by
that erdor this afternoon in the
Drain cemetery.

Secretary Hard, of the mining ex
change, has returned from Cottage
Grove and the Bohemia mining dis
trict says the Telegram. He cover

hemia miuiug district than ever

share of Oregon’s annual output of
gold. Development work is being
prosecuted with energy. At the

the railroad inside of a year.” .
Francis Perry Whit# was born near
Cottage Grove, April 5, 1772. He
graduated from the State University
iu the class of 98, died Jan 8, 1902
at Express, Baker county, Oregon of

At his death he was a beloved and
highly respected member of the
Christian church at this place, hold
ing at the repuest of his fellows the
office of deacon. He was well known
hero as a thorough

gentleman and a faithful worker
in all departments of Christian
service.
Iu his death he leaves to mourn
his decease a beloved mother three
sisters and one brother and a large
number of other relatives and
friends. He was beloved and re
spected by all who knew him. The
messenger came seuddenly came but
he was ready to go.
