What the average man wants is a few simple rules for discovering the genuine article. Wheat is quoted at 50 cents per bushel sasked, while flour sells at 90 cents per sack o f 50 pounds. W hat’s the matter with the flour .mill trust? Now that 3uch tremendous pre parations are being made to attack the mosquitoes, it might be well for specimens to be secured for museums for the enlightenment o f posterity. The grass should be cut and burned for with this contin ued dry weather it is a menace to the city by danger o f fire. The Chinese are great on edicts. What Do Your Drink? Children Don't give them tea or coffee. Have yon tried the new food drink called ORAIN-O? It is delicious and nourishing and takes the place of coffee. The more Graiu-O you give the children the more health you distribute through their systems. Gran-O is made of pure grains, and when properly prepared tastes like the choice grades of coffee but costs about j as much. All grocerss sell it. 15c. and 25c. i ( Columns has been written upon the advantages of trading with home merchants and home institu tions ; arguments have been produc ed to convince the people that pat ronizing home industries is not only a duty but an advantage; and home institutions have ever held out inducements that should be se ductive, still people send thousands o f dollars abroad annually for commodities that could be bought as cheaply at home where the pur chaser has th'e advantage at all times o f seeing what he buys and knowing that if it is unsatisfactory he can have it exchanged at the borne dealer’s. There is some reason for this trading abroad which dealers could overcome by Betfng the example themselves of always patronizing home con cerns which they too often overlook I f the merchants wants a dress suit or some specially attractive gar ment for himself or family, it is too often the case that he sends away for it. I f he desires to furnish his house he overlooks the fucts that his home furniture dealer is prepared to supply him either from his goods in stock or through special orders and goes to the large cities for his house decorutions. If he requires stationery in his business some times he forgets the home printer ai.d sends away, half the 'une get ting inferior work at advanced price. Another thing some dealers overlook too is to invite custom through a medium that reaches ail— the local paper. They have goods on their shelves that are seductive and their prices are right, still the consumer does not know it, and on receipt of a catalogue or pricelist from some foreign establishment gives it his order, whereas a well arranged ad vertisement placed in the family paper by the local merchant telling what he has and its price would nine times out: o f ten have brought the order to him. It is not, there fore always the fault of the consu mers that trade which naturally be- ongs at home goes abroad.— Ex T H E I I t S A C H E T I S OUT.
