t ills O ffic e .
W e also desire to cell the atten
tion of our city ‘duds’ to the horrid
streets, the unhealthy frog [Kinds,
tho dilapidated condition o f the
city hall and the unsightly appear
ance o f our back alleys Our city
jails aie both travesties ou first-
class lock-ups and the city’s pound
fence will not hold either a law-
breaking town cow or a stray pup,
and is in need o f repair. The nails
are working up in the sidewalks,
endangering the tires and happiness
o f festive scorchers, and thereby
rendering the walks unfit for any
thing but pedestrians, and the cross
walks that have cost the town so
heavily during the past year, are
leaning to larboard, and the town
pump— well it is all right, and only
needs a little ‘fixen.’
Now g ntlemen you are informed
oi your duties, (of courss you never
dreamed you had any,) and if you
dont put tilings in ship shape and
in short order you names will be
Dennis, Mosshack or Mud. It is
nothing to us that the city is in
debt heels over head and that there
is nothing in the treasury to work
with but tax money that has not
been paid in yet. Our children will
pay tho hills after we are dead and
gone and will bless ns for the lega
cies. The burning idea is *to pro
gress, justly and fairly if possible,
but if not, why progress anyway.
The L e a d e r has made nrrange
inents with Win.’ J. Bryan to club
with the “ Commoner,” Mr Bryan’s
new weekly paper, which was
launched upon the Journalistic sea,
on
Jannary
23, at Lincoln,
Nebraska.
We believe Mr Bryan’s
venture into neuspaperdom will be
a successful one and we predict he
will have a half million subscribers
within a year. The subscription
price o f the “ Commoner” will be
$1.00 per year; that of the L e a d e r
$1.50 per year, invariably in ad
vance. Now for our oiler. To all
subscribers who will avail them
selves o f Ibis opportunity within the
next thiity days we will give a
years subscription to the L e a d e r
and the “ Commoner” for $2.10-

fear o f smothering. I couldn’t get m y breath. ;
No matter if all the

called my attention

that it might help
me a little. It gave

lief, and the second

Completely. My re
covery is permanent, too, for ever since ]
have not had the slightest return o f my old
enemy. I consider Acker’s English Remedy
by long odds the best medicine in the world
for hacking coughs, asthma and bronchitis.
It completely masters those stubborn dis
eases that many people wrongly suppose to
be incurable. If sufferers will just try a sin
gle bottle, it will prove every word I have
said, and more too.”
