Bryan to club with the “ Commoner,” Mr Bryan’s new weekly paper, wbicli was launched upon the Journalistic sea, ,on January 23, at Lincoln, Nebraska. W e believe Mr Bryan’s venture into nowspaperdom will bo a successful one and we predict ho will have a half million subscribers within a year. The subscription price o f the “ Commoner” will be $1.00 per year ; that o f tho L e a d e r $1.50 per year, invariably in ad vance. Now for our offer. T o all subscribers who w ill avail them selves o f this opportunity within the next th iity days we w ill give a years subscription to the L eader and the “ Commoner” for $2.10- Mr Br_van wishes us to -t.,te for the protection o f all snbscriber.- that traveling agents will not be employed in soliciting subscriptions for his pa] er. Recent elections in Chicago, St Louis, Kansas City and other large cities o f the M iddle West, indicate very clearly a ehange in public sen timent favorable to Democracy. They also show the trend o f publie opinion is away from tho money question and is centering condem nation upon trusts aud monopolies. The people are Isiginning to wake up to the necessities of their true situ ation. That a hurricane is coming which will sweep the gigantic trust evil out of existance, or at least wash away its sandy foundation, the excessive high tariff system, we haven’t the slightest doubt. The trust and tariff questions are Siam ese twins and one cannot exist with out the other. Tho evil is a gigan tic one and sooner or later w ill de stroy competition and wreck the nation. “ Equal rights to all and special privileges to none,’’ must he the democratic watchword i f any great degree o f success is attained. No other cry w ill rally to the dem ocratic standard a united and en thusiastic democracy, The trust question with its kindred evils is the all absorbing topic of tbe day. All others are as pygmies when compared to it. It effects every man, woman and child, aud makes life a burden almost too heavy for nine out every ten men to bear. Imperialism and the gold stand ard w il' die for want o f nourish ment .vhen the people have shaken off' from their shoulders the mighty grip o f corporations and blood sucking trusts. -•/ If you have It, you know it.
