G ood if TitrE-Mr S R Piper of this place, is in receipt of some letters and nowspopor clippings from his old home in Tennesse, that would Bet some wild with delight were they in his shoes. It is to the effect that one William H Piper recently died in the Black Hills, leaving gome mining property worth several millions of dollars to his heirs aud that his nearest heirs were brothers. M r Piper had a brother by that name from whom he nor his relatives had heard for several years. H e was known to have gone to the Black H ill mines and had no family at last accounts of him, whether or not thero is any thing iu the reports, remains to bs dis covered. Mr Piper has a too well ballanced bead to get nervous over the matter and all who know him can only hope for the best. C ougar F ight .-Sunday afternoon, word was brought to town Robt Moshy, Felix Currin, that Jasper Patten and others had captured a live cougar that had escaped the bloody kuife o. Teddy Roosevelt, and were bringing the animal to town where it was hoped enough blooded dogs could be secured to Lave a geuuiuo fight. A bout population gathered half the at the depot, soon to see the wagon bearing the in fill iated beast, roil into town. The excitement quickly subsided how ever when it was learned the coug .■ had died on the road to tov i. Whether of fright at the though’ of meeting the viciojs pugs, rat-teri ers aud bird dogs, so numerous on the streets, or from loss of blood oc casioned from having its hind leg shot off, is not known. Certain it is the poor thing was dead so the ooly thing to do was to have a picture taken of tho defunct feline aud dis pose of its body and narrate the enquiring bystanders the to thril ling account of its capture. By some it is claimed the beast never recover ed from its fright when Bob Mosby climed up tbo tree to shake the animal out, Social.
