F A . F alk en b u rg , not only h av e th e W oodm en of the W orld lost a tried , tru e and valuable leader an d c o u n sellor, but all fraternal o rg an izatio n s as well. W hile his special life work w as for the u p b u ild in g o f th e W O. W. he w as a friend and stro n g su p p o rter of the fratern al system . It is said there is alw ays a m an to tak e the place of a n o th e r, but there are f e w at least w ho w ith o u t th e years of experience, w hich Mr F alk en b u rg had, can a t o n c e fill the vacancy occasioned by his death . The E ugene G uurd of T hursday takes I. H . Bingham , representative from Lane county to task for the reading of 11 telegram to the legisla tu re which lie had received from S enator M itchell in w hich the sena to r protests th at he is innocent of any fraud or crime. A t the tim e Mr. B ingham received th e telegram anil no d o u b t at the present, he with others hoped tin t S enator M itchell could clear him self of the charges made, n o t only for his own, hut for the sake of the S tate of Oregon. The people of C ottag e Orovc have thought Mr. B iugbam has been as prom inent in the leg islatu re as any representative sent from this d is tric t for a long lim e a t least. He introduced a Lii 1 to have th a t portion of the Bohemia m ining dis tric t now in D ouglas attach ed to Lune county, tint owing to the fact th a t Liun was asking th a t a portion of lilu e riv. r d istrict lie taken from L ane County, which, would be highly detrim ental to E ugeue at least, M r.Binghum could not have pro p er support, nor could he work for his bill with the same zeal th a t ho otherw ise would. H is hill No ‘.I'.t in relation to the corporation *ax whereby the non- payiug raining com panies escape a heavy litonse fee each year and w hich will became a law ; while it is not all th a t the m iners asked, it is more than was really believed the leg islatu re would g ran t, and will prove of great benefit to the s tru g gling milling com panies who are try in g to develop th eir prospects in B lue river, Bohemia and o th er portions of the state. W e may yet have reason to tind fau lt with Mr. Bingham , h u t it must be som ething more serious than his rending of a telegram from S enator M itchell. T h e follow ing bill Introduced in the H ouse by H on. 1. H . B ingham of L ane county, has bassed both H ouses and will becom e a law. HOUSE b il i . No 199 .
