They have been at Sea side, and are on their return home. Mr. and Mrs. J. W Spalding came over from Drain Thursday to trans act business in this city. They were accompanied by their daughter. Miss Isuira, who enjoyed a brief visit with her many friends here including the L eader family. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts, parents of Mrs. J. I. Jones, her aunt. Mrs Han sen, and Mr9. Evans and daughter of McMinnville, also Mr. and Mrs. Slur, of Dallas who have been guests at the June* home and also at the home of Clias. Vandenburg, a sister of Mrs. Jones have all returned home after a very enjoyable visit which partook of a fam ily reunion. The regular monthly union meeting was held at the C P. church Inst Sun day evening to discuss ways and means for im proving the city's morals. Sev eral very pointed addresses were made by local pastors, and quite an inter-1 esting musical and literary program was carried out. These meetings can not help but awaken our citizens to a sense of their responsibility as parents and their duty as good, law-abiding citizens, and will bear fruit. Alvah BeMent of Suglntw fuvored the L eader with a pleasant call while transacting business in this city Tues day. Mr. BeMent purchased the old Hall donation claim at Saginaw some time ago, and has transformed it into a beautiful home. He has 63 acres, which he devotes principally to g a r dening und small fruits. He sold 200 gallons of fine large gooseberries ulone this season at very remunerative prices. This method of small farming, with poultry raising included, can lie adopted by many others in this vicinity with profit. There are many such op portunities afforded.
