structure on the University of
Oregon campus that the regents
have been compelled to erect in
order that the increasingly large
number of young people of the
state who are asking for better
education may not be disappoint­
ed. The long continued attacks
that have been made on the in­
stitution have cut off appropria­
tion, making new buildings im­
possible. But, in spite of the
warfare on the University, the
boys and girls of the state have
continued to come in larger num­
bers every year, with the result
that the old equipment of build­
ings has been 1 completely over­
flowed.

if diverted from the University
for which it was raised, will be
spent for some other purpose,
but no one knows what.

has decided that an osteopath
cannot be a city health officer in
Oregon. The case came lip from
Oregon City, where Or. Van-
Brakle, an osteopath, was ap­
pointed as health officer by the
council. The appointment was
made when the council refused
to reappoint a former he'alth of­
ficer. and the other old line phy­
sicians all refused the tendered
appointment, when the osteopath
was chosen instead.
