The funeral was held Monday,

Hill, Rev. Benton, of Ivugeue, con­
ducting the services. A large num­
ber of friends were present, 17 go­
ing from Cottage Grove.
Mrs. Read was horn in White
County, Illinois, in 1843, her maid­
en name being I.uciuda A. Hall.
She was the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Thos. Hall. She was married
to 1). Read in 1863. They moved
to Kansas iu 1863 and to Crescent
Hill, Ore., in 1890, just 21 years
to the day previous to the date of
her funeral. In 1907 Mr. and Mrs.
Read moved to Cottage Grove.
Four children were born to the
couple,
the two living ones being

and Dr. S. I). Read, of Kugetie.
In her maiden days Mrs. Read

was a school teacher. The latter
