Out at Koseburg no one can be found who will accept the presidency of the club, 'the boosting fad has about run its course. « r e s ¡ g » g » ^ s g w g MMgi«wr - / j o f ,- ' A humorously inclined stranger was looking over Cottage Grove Sunday. “ Where are you from ,” inquired a local real estate dealer. “ From Eugene,” he replied and added, “ many bright people come from that city .” " Y e s ,” retorted the Grovite, “ and the brighter they are the quicker they com e.” The Cottage Grove Commercial club wired President Taft Monday urging the favorable consideration of San Francisco’s claims to the Panama Canal Exposition in 1915. San Francisco is the logical site for this great exposition, regard less of the claims o f New Orleans in regard to its geographical or more central location. The mat ter is now up to congress. H O f= Every Coat And Suit in the House Goes at Not to be outdone by Cottage Grove with its great quicksilver deposit just outside its city limits, the Fiugene Register came out Sunday with a scare-headed ar ticle reporting the discovery of a 25 foot ledge o f copper just outside Eugene’s city limits on the south. No stampede is evident in either direction. The quicksilver crop pings at the Cottage Grove ceuie terv were first observed in 1852 but no development work lias ever been inaugurated. However, Dunivan had just arrived here after three days and nights on the train and claimed to be in poor condition, but kept his appointment nevertheless. Some time ago the water main leading from the reservoir west of town burst and there being an abundant supply of water from Lang creek, the repair was ne glected. However, Sunday there came a landslide on the Lang Creek pipe line at Cerro Gordo, which carried out a couple of joints of pipe leaving Cottage Grove without water for a half day and also crippling the light plant. It is a lesson to the city authorities who hereafter will make repairs on both lines promptly. Miss Hlberta Claire. “ The girl from W yom ing,” spent Saturday in Cottage Grove on her way south with her pony and dog. Not being able to agree with the management of the Arcade theater as to prices, she did not appear on the stage here in her clever song and dance act.
