son. there is certainly some merit
to his work. T hat dope which he
puts down about the first roots of
a diseased tree, he at the same time
applies to the trunk and larger
limbs by use of a w hitewash brush
and almost invaribly the tree
shows lasting good effects from the
treatm ent. Sanders is also very
efficient in pruning and balancing
up fruit trees, as a visit in the o r­
chards about Cottage Grove where
he has worked will convince auy
one. As to his claim to be able to
destroy “ gum osis" on cherry trees
and some of his other announced
specialties, the Leader has nothing
to say, as noue of these particular
treatm ents of trees haS come to our
personal notice. Fruit Inspector
Beebe of Eugene lately visited the
orchards about Cottage Grove
wherein Sanders had
worked
and informed the Leader that
his work was not without merit.
He also exam ined the w riter’s tree
which Sanders treated for San Jose
scale, and pronounced the treat­
m ent good and said he was unable
to find a live scale on the tree.
T he Leader hears the nam es of
some very worthy citizens m en­
tioned in connection with the nom ­
ination for Mayor at the forthcom ­
ing city election, am ong whom
are: B. K. Lawson, Attorney, J. S.
Medley, J. II. Spray, C. H. Burk­
holder and llo u . O. II. Kent. All
good men aud either of them com ­
petent aud thoroughly qualified to
serve acceptably as Cottage ( ’.rove’s
cheif executive.
Here are two m ighty good slo­
gans for the Oregon voters. "N e s­
m ith county 1910,” and “ Oregon
dry 1910.” Both should and will
win.
