From a copy of the Star of Dec. 14, published at Plattsburg, New York, the Leader notes that Miss Ruth Newcomb, a sister of our townsman, P. Newcomb, died at that place recently. She was born at that place in 184.3 and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Newcomb, lifelong residents of Plattsburg. She was a great grand daughter of Platt Newcomb, the first male child born in Plattsburg. j Miss Newcomb studied for a school! teacher and upon completing her education and teaching as assist- J ant in the Plattsburg schools five I months, she was elected principal of the schools which position she; held continuously for 32 years, a most remarkable record. That she had the affection, confidence and esteem of the entire community is self-evident.
