The annual sermon delivered by Bishop Smith iu the M. F,. church Sunday was broad, liberal and progressive aud was one of the very best sermons ever delivered ill this city and yet so simple, plain and convincing that a child could grasp its meaning. The church was crowded to i s capacity aud the sermon was a revelation to the clerynjen, laymen and congregation alike. It was observed that the large M. E. church of this city was packed to the doors at every ses sion of the conference manifesting great interest in the work on the part of the townspeople. A large delegation from Eugene stormed the conference at the Fri day afternoon and evening meet ings, coming down on a special car. Friday the Methodist preachers showed that they practice what Veterans Will Meet Sept. 22. 23. 24. The committee having the mat ter iu charge are working up a good program for the annual meet ing of the Lane County Veterans’ association, which will be held in Eugene on Septenjljer 22, 23 and 24 of this year.
