T he I.ane county treasury was
euriched Saturday by the sum of
$420 through the paym ent of that
am ount in fines assessed by Judge
Bryson, of the justice court,
against the seven Greek laborers
who were arrested a couple of days
ago for robbing a boxcar at Cot­
tage Grove, says the G uard.
Detective Reilly arrived up from
Portland with an interpreter and
the seven dagoes were arraigned
before Judge Bryson. Each en ­
tered a plea of gujlty tp simple la r­
ceny, and eapli was sentenced to
pay a fine of $60. T he foreman
of the gang, who was one of the
men arrested, drew a check on a
Cottage Grove bank for $420 and
tendered it to the judge. A phone
message to the bank brought an
answ er that the check was good
and the men were turned loose.
