Their purpose is to initiate a bill to form a new county and to have it voted on at the next regular state election. The county they projiose to organize will take all the sea coast of both Lane and Douglas which will lie 45 miles in length from north and south and let it run inland about Mi miles following the summit of the Coast range as nearly as jiossible as a natural boundary and leaving Blnchly and I.orane in this county and F.lktou still in Douglas. The line proposed will run between Mound and I.orane crossing the Umpqua just west of Elktou to the south line of Douglas and fol lowing said south line to the coast, including the lower part of the Siuslaw and Umpqua rivers. The name of the proposed new county is Siuslaw and it will take about $.1,000,000 of taxable prop erty front Latte and about $2,500,- 000 from Douglas. This would give the new county quite a start and make a county whose interest for natural boundaries are identi cal. It would not have the effect of hurting the chances of the pro posed new county of Nesmith. As the eastern boundary fixed by the Florence ¡>eople is practi cally the exact line fixed by. the Cottage Grove Commercial Club as the western boundary of Nes mith county, the promoters of the two new county projects should and will work in harmony for the success of their respective causes. It would be money in Lane and Douglas county's pocket to have the new county formed and get rid of the outlay over income. The lower Siuslaw jieople are in dead earnest in the matter and will W ill’ uts and is the cheap try to get the matter moving at once. es in tl.. iut' . me. cieek, eight miles south of this . ity, shot herself with suicidal in tent about eight o’clock Thursday From $1.25 evening at her home, death ensu 25c H i g h l a n d T is s u e , p e r y a r d ,1,5c “ *4 4 20c lo c ing about midnight as a result of T o $2.50 1 5c . . . . Then he appeared at Cherokee, same state, next at Sioux Falls, South Dakota, when he decided to come west. Attractions of bc.os- terdom landed him at Cottage Grove aud of course being a ball player by nature, he couldn't re sist nature’s call when the boys oiled tlieir inits and polished their bats last spring. So it was that he began his career on the Nes mith team and spread his fame over the county as probably the tiest pitcher in all Lane. Baker not only uses curves and speed, but he lias control of the famous spitball. Last year with the help of this accomplishment he occupied the box ill 22) games and only lost five. In spite of off days he has lost but three games this year and scored some shutouts among his victories.— Eugene Reg ister.
