Mrs. Della M. (filbert, in an open letter to all Christian Scien tists asks their co-operation in a campaign of exposure and purifica tion. Mrs. (lilliert claims to hold n foremost position among Chris tian Scientists of this city and to be the mouthpiece of an influential element pledged to her support. Her open letter issued to the press of the country, read: “ To All Christian Scientists: “ The Christian Science church is without a spiritual leader in the flesh. "Those in control of the mother church in Boston and that house of mystery in Brookline— the false ly avowed home of a living and thriving Mary Baker G. Eddy— cannot «mcressfully refute this assertion. “ As a preliminary step f asj( you to confer with me without de lay, either in person or by letter. To each of you I will fully reveal every fact in my possession border ing on conditions which surround the fiction of leadership maintained at Boston and Brookline. “ 1 will give you every detail of my recent investigations in Boston and Brookline: of my conferences with file directors of the mother church, of my dealings with a man known as Mrs. Eddy’s private secretary: and of the pressure which has iwei) brought to bear upon me to keep silence. “ I will tell you also of an ap peal made to Hie ill the parlor of a leading Boston hotel by the chief executive of the mother church, who wept like a woman when 1 re fused to pledge myself to silence. There were witnesses to this inter view, and every word is carefully preserved. “ I told that agent of the fright ened tricksters in control at Boston to see and talk with file hidden leader was all that l asked. It was then that he wept. 1 had asked the one impossible thing. “ The time has come when Chris tian Science must purge itself of dishonesty. Mary Baker G. Eddy how lives in history only. The fetish of her name is all that re mains. “ That name, honored, by us all has become the breastwork of fal sity and fraud. 1 say this in deep est loyalty to the cause of Christian Science and truest devotion to the memory of the woman through whom God revealed truth ai>d gave to the world the science of heal ing. “ But the hour is at hand for a reorganization of the faith on lines of honesty, unity and purity. 'There must lie a living spiritual head, not a fetish, manipulated by schemers working solely for finan cial results. Eddy, at Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, has given the t ’nited Press a signed statement addressed “ To Whom it May Con cern.’ 'The statement says: " I have the pleasure to report to one and all of my lieloyed friends and followers that I exist in 1 lie flesh and am seen daily by the members of my household and those who have appointments with me. “ Above all this fustian, either deuying or asserting the personal ity or presence of Mary Baker G. Eddy, stands the eternal fact of Christian Science and the history of its discovery and founder. It is self-evident that the discoverer of an eternal truth cannot be a tem poral fraud." The statement was given out at Chestnut Hill on behalf of Mrs. Eddy by her attendants, the head of the Christian Scientists keeping her word that she would never again allow herelf to lie publicly interviewed.
