Big Offer to Teddy. A short tim e ago, while trapping for coyotes by p u ttin g out traps about a sheep’s carcas, the Kasley brothers, who reside on J. I. |ones' place northeast of this city, w ent out one m orning to their trap s an d were surprised to find a fine specim en of golden eagle held by one talon or claw . T he c a p tive was 38 inches in heighth, with a seven foot spread of w ings. It was no small task to release this great bird from the trap w ithout injuring hint, but this is w hat the hoys resolved to do aud in which they succeeded by putting a forked stick over his neck and forcing his head to the ground, while a pair of leather gloves were slipped on over his great talons. A wire ring was also slipped over his vicious looking crooked beak, several strans of wire were also w ound around li is body to secure his powerful wings, so he could not deal any knock out punches with his strong w ing bars, lie was then easily carried to the farm hom e where a large, strong wire cage was prepared aud in which this rare aud beau tifu l specitneu of Oregon bird of prey, was kept in captivity, but not for long, as the bovs, underestim ating his strength cam e home one evening about a week later au d found their bird had flown, h aving cut the wires of the cage with its pow erful beak and m ade good its escape. T his was unfortunate as they would no doubt have received a big price for this beautiful and rare speci men of the eagle fam ily, from some state park or show com pany.
