SUNDAY CLOSING IS EN OUR LYNX HOLLOW WEEKLY NEWS BUGET FORCED AT ROSEBURG The Roseburg Review says, re garding the outcome of the Sun day closing cases at Roseburg: The defendants, R. B. Mathews and C. J. Denning, changed their former pleas of " not guilty” and admitted that their respective places of business were ojiett on Sunday, July l 1), as alleged in the complaints. Upon agreeing to keep their business places closed ou Sundays hereafter until such time as the state low on Sunday closing has lieen passed upon by some higher court, Justice Long imposed the minimum fine of $5.00 each, which was promptly paid. O TIIK R CASKS PKN D IN G . It is generally understood now that a general test of this Srmdav closing law will come up before the circuit court, attd until that can be done it is probable that Sunday closing will be observed in this city. As to whether one of the cares now (lending, or some other, will tie thus tried has not yet lieen decided and of course cannot lie told by the officers themselves. Late this afternoon it was re ported that Messrs. Rhoades aud Jeiniiugs will probably enter pleas of guilty and their cases then taken into the circuit court for a thorough reviewing. For Sale. R.
