One firm which handles most of the Thanksgiving birds sold here announced that it bad ar ranged tor all the turkeys necessary, though a scarcity existed through out the country as a general rule. This year raisers are demanding higher prices, which meaus that lhe dealers must also charge more. It is likely that the wholesale price will be twenty-five eents per pound and thirty cents retail. I.ast year the price was twenty-five cents re tail,— Albany Herald. Albany people should come to Cottage Grove for their Thanksgiv ing turkeys where they are selling at 13 cents per pound live weight and lfi ceuts dressed. In Portland today dressed turkeys are selling for 18 cents per pound with a steady decline nud dealers say they expect them to go as low as 12j£ to 15 cents per pound by Christ mas. Wagon loads of turkeys are comiug into this city every day and raisers say this is the greatest year for turkeys known. If the Albany dealers have to pay 25 or 30 cents per pouud for them in Linn county Cottage Grove can supply them with all they need for 15 cents. Last Tuesday evening St. Valen tine’s Circle W. Rosenberg; Outside Guard, Mrs. Ross King; Musician, Miss Eunice Van Denberg. Alter the business session was over a social session was held and refreshments served. Competitive Drill. There will be “things doing” at the armory Monday night among the militia boys. Col. Geo. O. Yo- ran and Major C. C. Hammond of the 4th Infantry, O. N. Elkins of the Christian church. They ate among Cottage Grove’s best young people and their many friends wish them a long aud happy married life.
