The past season seems to lane been n favorable one with a few exceptions. In some localities there were too much rain ami cool weather. As a rule, how ever. the stales that produce the most sugar beets were favored with futility days and a normal amount of mois ture. In the llrst place, the yield of beets Is Increasing from year to year, due to better methods of cul tivation and the use of better seed. The sugar content Is also on the up grade. A few years ago it was with the greatest difficulty that most grow ers could produce beets averaging 12 per cent sugar. Now l.‘I and 14 per cent is the rule, and 15, HI, 17 and even IS per cent Is not unusual. It Is still a llllle early to give an estimate of the amount of l.oet sugar produced Ibis season.
