Mr. Cosgrove was a man that had friends wherever be went and though he was apparently not in close touch with relatives at time of his death, it is certain there are those that would like to know of his death. It has been found that a 5 or 7 per cent solution o f good fresh wushlng powder applied 111 hot water will make a good mutcrlul for destroying germ life, provided the utensils ure subject ed to this solution for ut least ten min utes. after which they should he rinsed iu hot water and set uway In the pure air to dry. The latter method requires more time to accomplish the sam e pur pose than with steam , but Is bettor adapted to farm use. There are other methods for conven iently destroying bacteria ou dairy' utensils. They ure. nowever, more ex pensive, but very effective. A practical way Is to rinse the utensils, after they have been thoroughly washed In some alkali, with u hot solution containing 6 to 12 per cent borax. This solution also preserves the tin to a slight ex tent. but care must be taken uot to get It Into the milk. Bullfight and pure ulr ure the cheap est and most effective means of keep ing the utensils pure and sanitary after they have been cleansed. W hen these conditions do not exist It Is then ud vlsnble to put them In a hot drying room. Old. unclean dishcloths should never be uswl for wiping dairy utensils after they have been steamed or subjected to the hot washing solution, as the germs which are lodged In the cloth will again tio distributed over the sur face o f the vessels, thus reinfecting them. I f utensils must be wiped dry. It Is alw ays best to use n coarse linen cloth w hich has previously been steam ed or boiled. Scrub brushes ure the best articles for use In cleaning dairy utensils. Conrse linen cloths may also be used, hut they require more care In keeping them clean The same methods for cleaning utensils should be followed for cleaning cloths.
