The City < ’ouncil should pass an ordinance requiring that any walks relaid on Main stieet should he built of ee merit, and that when the street ¡me was reached a curb should be laid extending down for a gutter The sidewalks on Main street are v* ry poor anil within a couple of yearn aftei the passage of such an ordinance the streets would begin to look like a prosperous town. A young man from Creswell by name of McCord was on the creek t wo or three days to see about at tending school here. Mr. Crouch spoke on the title of his hook— The Simple Life— the hearers were car ried uwa.v from the rush and Hurry of our modern existence— away from modern inventions and con veniencies, many of which bring ouly discomfort and weariness to the primitive extreme of our antes tors who lived longer and with more ease and comfort than we who consider so many burdensome things as positive uicessities. lie portrayed in well chosen words an ideal existence,full of peace and happiness, yet busy and useful many it pi quotations were used— some humorous some sad »11 de liveted with much feeling.
