The Fourth of July will be cele­
brated in Cottage Grove in regula­
tion manner. A big program is
being arranged, and will be an­
nounced later. Contests of all
kinds will be held, races for young,
old, fat aud thin people in fact ev-
erybody. Largejprizes will be of-
fared and everybody is invited to
attend and take part.
Prepare for tho races and con­
tests, and send word to the commit­
tee in charge of sports, of which

Grand Picnic.
The Maccabees hold a grand
picnic today at Star. The entire
order aud all their friends will go
up on the O & S E to Wildwood

will be a baseball game between the
Star team and the Cottage Grove
boys. The boys from home are

tations and music, the principal ad­
dress of the evening being deliv­
ered by President P. L. Campbell
of the University of Oregon. Ld

made one of the best orations and
pleased everyone. The exercises
were first class throughout and the
work of tho school lias been well
done.
In the afternoon the Normal boys
and the Cottage Grove boys in­
dulged in a game ot hall out in a
pasture which was pretty rough.
The baseball game was rather too

Fourth of July Celebraton.
The Fourth of July Committee
has been getting out a number of
large posters which will be put up
all over the county calling atten­
tion to Cottage Grove’s celebration.
Other smaller posters will also be
sent around.
A great time is coming. Good
music all day. Public speaking.
Many laces and contests are to be
held. The rock drilling contest
will attract all the miners, the wood
handling will attract the loggers.
Come one and all, and enjoy the
day with us.
