Every election sees more men vote for the uian, not the paity, and such Is the true principal of government. Any party may be right in its principles, but have men nominated to sup p >rt them who are not fit represen tatives of just citizenship, and who should not receive the support of voters of any party. The vote of the coming yeurs will be: First, for the individual men; second, for the principles which the people wish to see carried out, and the in dividuals will be forced to represent such principles, irrespective of party affiliations. Mrs. DeW olf and daughter from Tecumseh, Micliigau, arrived Tues day to visit ht-r brother, Mr. (). P. Adams and family who lias not seen her sine« the spring of 1854. Mr Ydams is 78, was born in Pennsyl vania in the 30ts and lelt his home iu ’ 54 which was the last time he saw his s>ster nntil Tuesday, came to Oregon that year and to Cottage Grove in ’ 58. He and bis sister are the only children left o f «family of 10. In speaking of the changes of years he spoke of the various plsces where the Cottage Grove Post office located and slated that first it was in an onk grove, three quarters of a mile below Creswell uear Indiana Martin’ s and was (hen called Cottage Grove and from there was moved 4 miles to John Hughes and from there to Clauaarps and then to Hamilton’s store uear Walker. Hamilton could neither rend nor write and had many signs which lie used to mark down to men» he sold certain articles. Uncle Nat Marlin used to have to go down there every few days and make up Hamilton’s reports for him, and so finally in i8G5 Ilamil ton died and Uncle Nat bundle: the wliolo Post office into Ins wagon and brought it to his black smith shop in the west side where it was kept for several years. Miss Nina Chandler o f Clem, Ore gon, and Mr. Blaine Jackson, a son of Mrs. C. J. Miller of this place, were married Wednesday evening the Dili, at the home of the bride’s parents in Clem. The couple are oil on n honeymoon and will return here shortly after the first of June. Mrs. Jackson was a popular high school girl heie and recently moved with her people to Clem. Mr. Jackson is a young electrician, who has many friends hero and who was employed by the Oregon Se curities Co. when he met with a severe accident from which lie is not entirely recovered aB yet.
