The city is to be removed to Portland aboard a car, and it will not require a very large car, either. Spokane iu miniature is now being built. A civil engineer and an artist are the builders, and the Spokane Chamber of Commerce is the sponsor. The minute city, a beautiful reproduction, with a stream of real water to represent Spokane Falls, will occupy a room in the balcony above the mining ex hibit in the Washington state building at the fair, and Spokane people will proudly point out the places of interest in their city with out finding it necessary to take the tourist thither. It is the expecta tion, however, that the tourist who sees the reduced fac-simile of Spokane will be so charmed that he will go up to see the actual city. The plan is to reproduce the city in detail from Jefferson street to Davidson street between Mallon avenue and the Northern Pacific railroad. To the sightseer the city will appear as if seen from an eleva tion over the liver at Jefferson street, aud he will be looking away to the nrotta, the east and the south. The foundation of the city which will include the streets, curbs and sidewalks will be of cement from two inches to six inches thick The district to be reproduced will be made on an absolute scale of 30 feet to the inch, which will make the exhibit ioxt 2 feet The cement foundation will be divided into t o aections, weighing 120 pounds each, so that it can be safely moved. The bttildiugs will be hand-carved from pine. Each city block will be made separately, and will lie tast- eued upon the cement foundations by dowals. That will permit the whole thing to be taken apart tor shipment. After the details of all the business buildings are carved they will be painted in the actual colors of the structures. The bridges will be reproduced of wood and wire. The outlying portions of the city will be painted upon canvass and adroitly joined to the little city so as to appear in natural per spective.
