Threatens to Burn Church Albany, Or., Oct. 1". Tho Her ald this evening says: Apparently driven to desperation by the recent liquor prosecutions, unknown opponents of the Anti Saloon league and Good Citizenship leacue of this city, have resorted to making threats against the sup posed leaders. In confirmation of this S. K. Young, a trustee iu the United Presbyterian church this morning received an anonymously signed communication, to the effect that if the prosecution in the liquor cases ilid not cease, that the hand some church, located on the corner of Fifth and Washington streets would be burned. The unknown writer ct the com niunieation is supposed to be seme radical r.nti-ptohibitionist,, who be lieves that the United Presbyterian cuurcu members are tucking me present liquor prosecutions, and is seeking this underhand means ot frightening the leaders in the eases. On the other hand it i argued by liquor adherents not of the vio lent aud radical temperament, that the letter may have been written by some ardent prohibitionist who thus thinks to arouse public sentiment the more against the alleged viola-1 i ,, tors of the loal option law in this ' C1'J- . mm . , , , . , A wholesale paper house has 1 ? , been incorporated in La Grand; meat packing plant is talked of.
