It requires capital to develop a mh.lt.K district like Bohemia nnd it is slowly but surely awakcniiif: to the fact thnt it is needed, uouc roin milling stocks arc finding n ready market thruout the West and in portions of the East. There is at least one mistake that is usually made in the history and development of every town and city iu the country and our city may be no exception to the general rule, especially just at this time when so many business nnd professional men are coming west and seeking new locations. If they have money to purchase a property or can rent one. tliev areoiten encouraccu iu enter a field which is already fully from the first Shock o! the surprise Mr. nnd Mrs. Elliott bade the visitors welcoiiieand an exceedingly pleasaut time was enjoyed by all present. Candy, nuts, cake, pi fruit and lemonade were served to which all did amnlc justice. One entertaining feature of the evening was the congregating outside of the youngsters ot the party who with tin pans, bells, whistles nnd etc. proceeded to furnish charivari mtv sic until they compelled the "bride and groom"' to make their ap pearnnce on the front porch, after which the musical youngsters were j treated to the candy. About 11:30 p. ni. the crowd united in singing "God lie With You," when all dis persed to their several homes afte: wishing the host nnd Hostess man happy returns of the day. Among those present we noticed Shade liurcham and family, C. W. Cald well and family, II. Da me wood and family, Miss Davidson, Mr. and Mrs, Harris, Sam Damewood, Mr. and Mrs. L. Single. Mrs. Baker Single and family, Mr. and Mrs Tompkins of Gledwood Heights, Mr. and Mrs. tn reeves and son Roy, Mrs. Overholster and sons Frank and George, and Mr. and Mrs. Elliott. How much better for all concerned to encourage those to locate among -us whose business or profession is not alreadv overdone. That the Bohemia Mining Dis trict has a great future before it no well posted man can doubt. That Cottage Grove is and will remain the gateway into the same, is a foregone conclusion, and this is as surance enough to us that those who invest their surplus money in Cottage Grove realty or Bohemia mining stock, will surely realize many fold on their investment be fore many years roll around. We have great faith in the Bohemia hills and feel confident that devel opment of the mines in that region will make nearly every prop erty there a large dividend payer. Since we became a permanent resi dent of this city and connected with this paper, we have interviewed dozens of men from Bohemia and they all tell the same story of the richness of the "diggins" there. Many of them have no interests there and are perfectly disinterest ed hence we attach some import ance to their reports. There are others among them who have large interest there but whom we know to be thoroughly reliable. It is the reports of those men more than aught else that convinces us fully that Bohemia is destined to become a'rival of Cripple Creek, which startled the world with its wealth of gold, but not until millions had been spent in developing it. Rena Baker, of Cottage Grove, visited Saturday and Sunday with Mrs. Howard Miller. Geo. Comer and family have gone to the R. R. camp, where they will cook for a gang of the laborers. The housewives of this district are busier than bees preserving, pickling and canning the tooth some fruits and vegetables for the coming winter. Tlios.
