One of the tunnels at the Lucky
Hoy mine, in the Illue River di
liict. caved iu last Saturday, and
number of miners narrowly escaiied
with their lives. For months the
miners have been engaged in the
work of "sloiihm" iu the ilinln tin
nel. The miners became alarmed
tibout the safety of the broad, higl:
walls, and reported to the manager
their fears. At n o'clock Satur
day all the miners left the tunnel
mid held a consultation regarding
its probable safety. Not being
satisfied, n committee of the most
experienced men entered the tunnel
to make a further examination.
They bad no more than entered tbe
tunnel when ine wans coiiapseo
with a terrific crash. The men
were thrown out of tbe tunnel by
the concussion, and thus escaped
without injury. The tunnel is now
n nw.i of debris, and the loss to
t!ie comnauv is very heavy, al
though difficult to estinute. The
company lias not yet decided what
course to.puisue.

Many new strikes have been re
ported from the district this week
and many new locations have leen
made. One company has let tbe
contract for hauling their ore from
the mine to Uedrock, the present
terminus of tbe O. &S. H. railroad.
This company is now endeavoring
to obtain one-hundred teams for ore
hauling and expect to ship a large
quantity to the smelter within the
next few weeks.
There has been a noted increase
in demand for Bohemia mining
stocks within the past few days and
the different companies having offi
ces in tie city report large sale3 of
stock.
These investments are evidently
first class as every company yet
organized has plenty of ore on the
dump ready for shipment and with
out nn exception, every company
has found the price ot stock contin
ually advancing since organization.
