The Corvallis Agricultural col
lege will give four weeks of popu
lar lectures and practical demon
strations on farm topics free from
January 14 to February 14. 1902,
and urge all wbo can to attend and
improve the excellent opportunity
offered. It will be of much value
to all who attend and should be
taken advantage of by many. Some
of the subjects to be considered are.
Animal Husbandry Under this
head will be discussed such subjects
as pertain to the handling of farm
animals. The most common dis
eases of domestic animals; the
principles of feeding and digestion;
feeding for beef and feeding- for
milk will be considered. Typical
animals of the dairy and of the
beef types are owned by the college,
also pure bred animals of some of
the leading breeds of sheep and

the bare summer fallow; loss of
fertility of Oregoti soils; rotation of
crops; tillage and drainage and

Practical work in making butter
and cheese in the college creamery
will occupy two hours each day.
Use of Babcock test as a basis of
payment for milk received at
creameries and cheese factories, and
as a means of weeding out poor
cows on the farm, will be taught.
Work in up-to-date creamery ac
counting will be given. Also
lectures on various phases of the
Bacteriology A series of lectures
on the bacterial diseases of domes
tic animals including poultry, and

by laboratory demonstrations.
Insect Pests and Plant Diseases
Pests of the apple, the pear, the
prune, tne cnerry: pests ot smau
fruits, of garden vegetables, and of
farm crops will be described, speci
mens shown and remedies sug
gested. The discussion of spray
ing operations will be illustrated by

The best methods of growing veg
etables; the propagation, cultiva
tion and care of greenhouse plants;
budding and grafting; propagation
of stocks; effect of stock on scion
and the principles of propagating
small fruits will be considered.
