Among the funds deposited in Gilbert Bros, bank which failed in Salem Tuesday, is the publicschool saving batik account of about $1500, representing the savings of Salem's public school children for the past 18 months. An effort will be made by the school board to have this fund reserved from the funds of the bank, and not tied up in the litigation. The object of the savings system ill the schools was to instill iu the young minds the virtues of economy, but to have their deposits practically wiped out in such a. manner as this will more than offset any good so far accom plished and create a general dis trust that will require long years to eradicate. Ex. There is one thing the miners of Bohemia have neglected or at least have not given proper encourage ment; and that is the selection of a fine specimen exhibit to be placed with the Portland Mining Ex change. A visit to that office will convince any one of this. At the office you will see splendid speci mens from Eastern and Southern Oregon, but scarcely a piece of rock from Bohemia. Secretary Hard who visited Cottage Grove this week was lamenting the fact and stated that it would be a great help to the district if a display could be made, and he further stated that the cost would be of no consequence whatever. He would be pleased to secure specimens from every property in the district and would take particular pains to show them, and would return them any time upon request. This is a fair offer and should be looked into at once. It is one of the most effect ual ways and the least expensive advertisement that can be hit upon. NOTICE. Dissolution of Partnership.
