American farmers receive almost $115,000,000 more money for thei wheat this year, under republican prosperity, than they did in 1896 under democratic depression. Thev received nearly $22,000,000 more money for their potatoes this year than they did in 1896. People could afford to buy potatoes this vear. as the mills were open and good wages ivere being earuede They received almost $14,000,000 more money for their barley this vear. and barley is one of the smallest of the staple cropi. They received almost $6,000,000 more money for their rye crop, which is- another of the small staples. American farmers have also gained $500,000,000 this year in the value of their live stock as com pared with 1896, according to the Department of Agriculture's figures. The farmers will not throw away the substance for the shadow. They will vote for a continuance of re publican prosperity as against a re turn of democratic adversity.
