In opening Hie exchange Mr. Hutch inson spoke encouragingly of the outlook for Oregon mining property and paid the agricultural iutorcsts of this state a pretty compliment as follows "I hops tint your mines will havens ureal a reputation as your firms and orchards in the Valley of the Willamette." Among the numerous presents received was a very elegant watch and chain. nomoiiA NINIt victorious - After the ball game last Satur day afuruoon, some of the old ball players of Cottage Grove became enthusiastic and wanted to play, so a pick-up nine was gathered and Sunday afternoon they went against the Bohemias with a result that they couldn't play ball as of yore. The parties to the suit were former residents of this 'com munity. RICH ou Jerome Knox received this week some specimens of ore from the Chewanean mines near Paeslcy, in Iike county, that assayed $900.00 gold, per ton. Frank White the assayer, says it is about the richest rock he has examined. UNI.AUOINO The Bohemia Hotel, owned by Hen I,urch, is undergoing exten sive repairs. Roach, aged 28 years, 10 months and 13 days, of consump tion. Mts. Roach was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Coffman who came here some months ago, Deceased was born in Marion county, Iowa. Mr. Roach was absent, and ar rived Monday night. The services were held at the church at Walker and the remains were interred in the graveyard at that place. CHAKTHR CI.0SJ5U.
