2A | DECEMBER 9, 2021 | COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL On The Record POLICE LOG Nov. 30 • An officer responded to London School for a report of Burglary and Theft. Staff advised how an outbuilding was bro- ken into sometime be- tween Nov. 26 and Nov. 28, where a lock was broken and school prop- erty was taken from the storage building. It was determined ultimately that seven Genesis Bows, 60 arrows and one cord- less electric string trim- mer were stolen. The officer counseled with staff about improving the buildings security. Approximate total val- ue of the stolen items is $1,880. • An officer respond- ed to Walmart to assist a mother whose son who was running from her in the parking lot. • Officers respond- ed to a death investiga- tion on the 500 block of Landess Road. Dec. 1 • A collision occurred between a CGPD patrol unit and a city-owned van after the unoccupied patrol until rolled back- wards from a parked position near the police station sally port. The patrol unit’s engine was reportedly off, but it was determined the trans- mission had not suc- cessfully been placed in park. Dec.2 • While on patrol, an officer received a cross report stating that health care providers were concerned about a new mother’s “disinterest” in her newborn baby. There were no allega- tions of neglect and the case was to be assigned and handled by OHS. Dec. 4 • An officer respond- ed to the Safeway park- ing lot to assist with an information exchange between two parties. Ac- cording to the parties’ statements, one party pulled into a parking space and struck a shop- ping cart, causing it to propel into the driver door of the other party. The first party was is- sued a citation for Driv- ing While Suspended and Failure to Renew Vehicle Registration. • An individual was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant and was to be housed at the Cottage Grove Munic- ipal Jail until US Mar- shals were due to come and take the individual into custody on Dec. 6. Dec. 5 • An officer was con- tacted by citizens re- garding a unknown male walking onto a porch lo- cated on the 1700 block of Pritchett Place, taking four bags of cans and leaving. • An individual was taken into custody for an outstanding warrant and was to be housed at the Cottage Grove Munic- ipal Jail until US Mar- shals were due to come and take the individual into custody on Dec. 6. This case involves a sep- arate individual from one in similar circum- stances taken into custo- dy on Dec. 4. • An individual on the 400 block of E Main Street was determined to be in a mental health crisis and transported to the University District Hospital for evaluation and treatment. The in- dividual reported being chased by unknown per- sons and being attacked by large spiders. • A CGPD dispatch su- pervisor advised officers of a driver on I-5 sus- pected to be intoxicated and provided real-time accounts of the vehicle failing to maintain a lane of travel, driving at slow speeds and cutting off other drivers. The su- pervisor continued pro- viding updated locations of the vehicle, which subsequently entered Cottage Grove and was pulled over for a traffic stop on the 1200 block of Hwy 99. The officer observed multiple indi- cations of impairment. The driver was arrested and would subsequently voluntarily consent to a blood draw. The driver was cited and released on the charge of Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants. November 2021 Building Inspection Services report For the month of No- vember, the Building Division of the Public Works & Development Department issued 75 permits, one for a new single-family home, and performed 173 inspec- tions in Cottage Grove.
