2B | OCTOBER 14, 2021 | COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL Elkton wins ‘physical game’ at Prospect By Kendrick Murphy kmurphy@cgsentinel.com “The most physical game I have ever been apart of,” said Elkton Head Coach Jeremy Lockhart after the Elks 25-0 road victory against Pros- pect Charter. “Our defense is playing stellar. We’re playing relentless all game and we did not allow that team to do much offensively.” The Elks’ defense contin- ues to stifle their opponents. In their last three games, Elkton is only giving up five points per game. Elkton’s first score of the game was an interception re- turned for a touchdown giv- ing them an early lead. The Elks took a 19-0 lead into half time and scored one more time in the fourth quarter to ice the game. “The team was ecstatic and emotions were running high. We feel like we have turned a corner,” said Lockhart. “We are no longer a whiny team. We are a physical smash mouth football team that can play with anybody.” Elkton will host Gilchrist on Saturday Oct. 16 as they try to extend their winning streak to four.
