COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL | APRIL 22, 2021 | 7A Douglas County gives Special Districts Election Update Ballots for the upcom- ing May 18, 2021 Special Districts Election will be arriving after April 29 for registered voters in Doug- las County. Ballots must be returned no later than 8 p.m. on May 18. Douglas County voters have until approx- imately Monday, May 10 to utilize U.S. mail to cast their ballot for the Special Districts Election in time for the May 18 deadline. Votes can also use of- fice ballot drop sites (for a complete list, visit doug- lascounty-oregon.us/179/ Offical-Drop-Site-Loca- tions). The Douglas County Clerk would like to re- mind voters that, in order to receive an official ballot for the Special Districts Risk from A1 Statewide hospitaliza- tion metrics for deter- mining Extreme Risk For counties to move to (or remain in) extreme risk, they must meet the county metrics for case rates and percent pos- itivity, plus statewide hospitalization metrics. These include COVID-19 positive patients occupy- ing 300 hospital beds or more, and a 15 percent increase in the seven-day hospitalization average over the past week. This week, there are 11 counties that qualify for extreme risk based on their county metrics, but are assigned high risk be- Election, you must be reg- istered to vote and your voter registration must be up-to-date. Before turning in a ballot, make sure you have reviewed and completed both sides cause the statewide hos- pitalization triggers have not been met: Baker, Clackamas, Columbia, Crook, Deschutes, Jack- son, Josephine, Klamath, Linn, Marion and Polk. Three counties enter a two-week caution period. The two-week caution period applies to counties facing backward move- ment. Counties that re- duced their COVID-19 spread enough to move down in risk level in the previous two-week peri- od, but see their numbers go back up in the next two-week period, are giv- en a two-week caution period to re-focus efforts to drive back down creep- ing case numbers and give local businesses ad- of the ballot.
