2A | SEPTEMBER 10, 2020 | COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL On The Record LRAPA warns of smoke from Beachie Creek Fire The Lane Regional Air Protection Agency (LRAPA) that some ar- eas in Lane County may see “Unhealthy” or “Very Unhealthy” air on the Air Quality Index. Closing all doors and windows through the night is recommended. The Beachie Creek Fire is a 513 acres wildfire east of Salem and north of Detroit, Oregon. Dry northeasterly winds will push smoke into Lane County through Friday. Pollutants in smoke can cause burning eyes, runny nose, and aggra- vate heart and lung dis- eases and other serious health problems. Avoid strenuous out- door activity. Stay in- doors if possible, and keep windows and doors closed. Use high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) Filters if possible. Please follow medical advice if you have a heart or lung conditions. Smoke can irritate the eyes and lungs and wors- en some medical condi- tions. Young children, adults over 65, pregnant women, and people with heart disease, asthma or other respiratory condi- tions are most at risk. Monitor air quality at LRAPA’s https://www. airnow.gov/ Protect your health when smoke levels are high: Stay inside if possible and keep windows and doors closed. Also avoid strenuous outdoor activity. Wilma Ellenburg Carol Juanita Rose 1930-2020 Carol Juanita Rose 89, of Cottage Grove passed away August 6, 2020. She was born on August 22, 1930 to Donald V. and Helen (White) Hard- wick in Los Angeles, Califor- nia. She attended schools in Rosemead, CA and Fresno, CA. She received a diploma for secretary at Central California Commercial College in Fresno. She worked many years using her skills in shorthand, typ- ing, and bookkeeping. In 1952 she married Th omas Goodall. Th ey moved to the Monterey Bay area while Tom completed his service in the Army at Fort Ord. Aft er his discharge they moved to Fresno where they were blessed with a daughter, they named Constance Lou- ise. However, aft er many years, they separated. In 1959 she married Dan Rose and they moved to Oregon aft er son Lester Robert was born and settled on property just north of Medford on the Rogue Riv- er. Aft er Dan passed away, Carol lived in Creswell until her death. She was preceded in death by her son Lester, daugh- ter Connie, and grandson Dan- iel. She is survived by son Larry Cunningham and wife Tawnie of Sparks NV; daughter in law Linda Hedgecock of Vancou- ver, WA; grandchildren Vince Rose, Elizabeth Rose, and James Rose all of Vancouver, WA; Chelsea Womack, Kayla Bowan, and Shelby Crow of Reno, NV; and 12 great grand- children. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel, Cottage Grove. DEATH NOTICE 1940-2020 Wilma Ellenburg 80, of Cottage Grove passed-away at home on September 3, 2020. She was born in Cottage Grove, Oregon to Manford and Cora Goff (Steele) on April 18, 1940. She graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1958. In 1959, Wilma married Dorel Ellenburg at the Presbyterian Church of Cottage Grove. She worked for more than 50 years at the local Safeway store, re- tiring in 2013. She also owned and operated an antique store in Florence, Oregon for more than 30 years. Wilma loved to bowl and went to three na- tional tournaments. She also enjoyed antiquing, gardening, and loved to work. She is survived by her hus- band of 61 years, Doral Ellen- burg; son Doral Ellenburg, Jr. of Madres, Oregon; daughter, Loretta Ellenburg of Mon- roe, Oregon; and her sister Donna Owens of Pahrump, Nevada; grandson Jed Ellen- burg; granddaughters Taylor Ellenbrug and Country Smith; great-grandsons Sawyer and Forrest Smith along with many nieces and nephews. She will be forever missed. A graveside service will be held on Th ursday, September 10, 2020 at 11 A.M. at Fir Grove Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on a later date.
