COTTAGE GROVE SENTINEL | MAY 14, 2020 ROP, SLSD launch donation drive for local youth Rural Organizing Proj- ect (ROP), in partner- ship with the South Lane School District’s (SLSD) McKinney-Vento Program and United Way, is launch- ing a donation drive for food and basic needs items to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 on Cottage Grove youth. Donations will be ac- cepted on an ongoing basis each Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Thursdays from 4 to 6 p.m., at the Ru- ral Organizing Project, 623 E Main Street in Cottage Grove. Social distancing guide- lines will be in effect; call 541-649-1169 for trunk pick-up or to drop off items outside the door. Jessica Campbell, Exec- utive Director of the Rural Organizing Project. “Cottage Grove is a com- munity that shows up for each other and helps our neighbors,” said Campbell. “We are proud to be part- nering with SLSD to help however we can.” According to Jade Chamness, SLSD McK- inney-Vento Liaison, the community has shown incredible generosity to- wards students. “This school year, the Cottage Grove communi- ty has helped us meet the needs of the nearly 280 SLSD students who have experienced housing in- stability.” said Chamness. “Today, we need your sup- port more than ever. We are a busy EYE CARE practice that is searching for an experienced Ophthalmic physician’s assistant for a busy eye care practice, but we are willing to train the right per- son. The applicant should have at least 1 year of practical experience in ophthalmic or medical office. Certification is recommended. Essential qualities include; good com- munication skills and friendly disposition, the ability to deploy and operate new technology including inventory and practice management software. Applicant must have the skills to function well in a busy and multitasking posi- tion and be a team player. The position includes assisting the physician chair side, ordering supplies, sterilizing equipment, and other tasks.
