It is a great loss that our beautiful princess was called home to soon. Born in Cincinnati, OH on August 31, 1930 to parents Roy Albert and Anna Mae McCollum (Gossett). Dorothy married Arthur Seymour on September 9, 1949 and they celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2011. Dorothy had a varied career, mostly in the fi elds of trans- portation and real estate where she was a licensed agent. She was very social, easily meeting new people and maintaining long term friendships. To Dorothy, fam- ily always came fi rst and with her passing, there is a loss of a generation in the McCollum family. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Susan Van- Bibber (Wayne; deceased) of Clovis, CA and Diana Tremel- ling (Bill) of Longview, WA as well as her son Larry Seymour (Cathy) of Cottage Grove, OR. Also surviving her are four grandchildren (Brian, Robert, Laura and Scott) and two great grandchildren (Evan and Lo- gan), along with many nieces and nephews. She was preced- ed in death by her sister Cora Jane, husband Arthur, and four brothers, Edward, James, Glen and Patrick. Arthur and the McCollum brothers all served proudly in the US military. A celebration of life will be held Friday, January 17th at 2 p.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove, OR. Interment will take place at a later date in California. Valeriani August 8, 1948 In Revere, MA, they celebrated 44 years until his passing in 1992. She was a housewife and stay at home mom her entire married life. Janet’s family was her most important aspect of her life. She enjoyed cooking big Italian dinners for everyone. She was ALLEN—Marcia Allen, 96, of Cottage Grove, Ore., passed Oct. 17, 2019. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Fu- neral Chapel, Cottage Grove, OR. DEATH NOTICES Donald Lamar Elvebak of Cottage Grove passed away December 30th of natural causes at the age of 90. He was born on a farm in Winnebago County, Iowa on August 13th , 1929 to Leonard and Edith (Flugum) Elvebak. He was the oldest of four boys and was a proud graduate of Kiester High School in Kiester, MN (1 of 3 students in its graduating class). In his younger days, he was a Golden Glove boxer rep- resenting both Iowa and Min- nesota in the national tourna- ment. He served in the Army during the Korean War. On August 12th, 1954 he married Mary Dudley in Albert Lea, MN. Th ey remained married for 47 years, 6 months and 5 days before his wife’s passing in 2002. Life was never happy unless his wife was happy. Be- ginning in December of 1959, before I-5 was even fi nished, he moved with his growing brood to Oregon settling in Cottage Grove. He worked for Weyer- haeuser for more that 30 years until his retirement in 1993. To support his family of 8, he never turned down a chance to work. Once, despite feeling ill, he went to work anyway not realizing until much later that he was suff ering a mild heart attack. Donald was an Iowan farm boy at heart, perpetually in motion, always looking for a chore to perform. He had a passion for woodworking, and expert builder of porch swings, he could jerry rig anything to- gether whether it was wanted or not. He was a fan of the Seat- tle Seahawks and Mariners, but he was an avid follower of Or- egon Ducks. He was a master- chef at popcorn, had a lifelong interest in all things WWII and enjoyed dancing a jig to the delight of all who saw. Donald found fortune in family. He was extraordinary man not in deeds but in character. He was a quiet man, rarely angry. He was a nice man. He was a kind man. To his family he was our sunshine.
