There rest of the distance to win his fi rst career 360 Sprint feature. Not only that but Thompson emerged out of his car as the 2019 Cottage Grove 360 Sprint track champion. Kyle Miller ended his night second while Tony Gualda put in a third-place effort. Roseburg’s Matt Hein, driving the Brett Smith owned entry, got fourth while fi fth went to Central Point veteran Garen Linder, also in a Doug and Kathy Rutz car. Cottage Grove Speedway re- turns for another two night spec- tacular on Saturday, Aug. 31 and Sunday, Sept. 1. It will be the championship weekend for the Interstate Sprint Car Series. Only the water polo team didn’t have a scrimmage last Friday as the finishing touches are put on the Warren H. Daugherty Aquatic Center, but they were nonetheless pres- ent to support their fellow athletes. As August comes to a close, the only thing left for the teams to do is contin- ue practicing and working towards their goals while Cottage Grove sports fans patiently await the first slate of games.
